Jerry Jantunen
Jerry Jantunen began his piano studies with Tuula Hirvenoja at the Lappeenranta Music Institute. Later at the Sibelius Academy his teachers were Hui-Ying Tawaststjerna, Eero Heinonen and Tuija Hakkila. Tuija Hakkila has also been his teacher in the Classical fortepiano. Jantunen has also studied the piano in Paris and Berlin with Pascal Devoyon and participated in masterclasses by Olli Mustonen and Konstantin Bogino. He completed the Master of Music degree at the
Sibelius Academy in 2007. Jerry Jantunen has received awards at various competitions, among them third prize at the Maj Lind piano competition in 1997 and second prize at the Mozart fortepiano competition in Bruges in 2001. He has performed as soloist and chamber musician in Finland and abroad. He has also recorded contemporary Finnish music in CD anthologies published by Ondine and Uusinta.
